UPDATE: Auburn Police seek information on missing man

UPDATE:

AUBURN, Ala. - On Aug. 21, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the North Alabama Search Dog Association, located a deceased person in a heavily wooded area located southeast of Lee Road 20. Officials observed clothing consistent with Wesley Carter Herbert, a person reported missing on Aug. 8, 2025. A death investigation is ongoing, and investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the identity. There is no evidence to suggest criminal activity or a present threat to the community.

AUBURN, Ala. - On Aug. 8, Auburn Police received a report in reference to a missing 42-year-old male. A complainant met with officers and reported that Wesley Carter Herbert had not been seen since Aug. 3, 2025.

Herbert is described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing white shorts, and he has tattoos on his torso, chest and left shoulder.

Auburn Police detectives are actively investigating all avenues that may lead to Herbert’s location. Anyone with any related information is encouraged to contact the Auburn Police Department at (334) 501-3100. Police are requesting that members of the public call in the event of sighting Herbert and to please refrain from initiating contact with him.
